Move your cursor from your Mac to your iPad, type on your Mac and watch the words show up on your iPad, or even drag and drop content from one Mac to another. (You can also choose to move the window to an iPad, but that’s another article. A single keyboard and mouse or trackpad now work seamlessly between your Mac and iPad they’ll even connect to more than one Mac or iPad. You can choose to “Tile Window to Left of Screen” or “Tile Window to Right of Screen.” On the other side of the screen, click the second app you want to work with. To use two apps in Split Screen mode, click and hold the green button in the top-left corner of an app’s window.

To stop using the app full screen, move the pointer to the top-left corner of the screen, then click the green button. It enables you to drag the window to either the left or right side of the screen to snap it as a full screen app. (Supposedly, you can do this with the Magic Mouse, but I’ve never found this to work smoothly.) El Capitan (OS X 10.11) introduced the new Mac split screen feature called Split View.

The Magnet app can help, but isnt true split screen and doesnt free up as much screen real-estate. Especially true if Im gaming on my desktop in fullscreen exclusive and using my Mac laptop to chat. You can watch the latest Apple event and take notes in a separate app on a split-screen. If Im just following streams in Discord/etc., split screen is a nice way to organize my screen and multitask. There are multiple scenarios in which you will find yourself using a split view on Mac. Your screen will split into two sides automatically and the app will appear on one side of the screen. The other app will remain hidden in fullscreen mode. (This depends on the Dock’s location.) And you can move between other apps in full screen by swiping left or right on your trackpad. To exit out of Split View, click the green full-screen menu on one of the apps.
Its not quite as intuitive as it should be, but easy enough once you get the hang of it. In the 10.11 El Capitan update, its called Split View, and it works fairly well for the most part.

Along the same lines, you can move the pointer to or away from the bottom or side of the screen. Catching up with Windows 8, Apple has finally included a way in Mac OS X to use two apps side by side in full screen view. When in full-screen mode, you can move the pointer to or away from the top of the screen to access the app’s menus. If you “super-size” the window of such an app, you won’t see the green button. Note that some app’s windows can’t display full screen.
